Artist Talk and Learning Journey to Goodman Ceramic Studio - GDMC

Key Objectives of the Learning Journey

To enhance their positive self-concept by introducing various modes of expression beyond just written and verbal communication.

To provide students with authentic learning experiences through the use of art forms.

To foster resilience in students as they plan, manage, and complete unfamiliar or challenging tasks through hands-on activities.

The programme is 2.5 hours.

Transport duration: 30-40 mins per way.

Total duration around 3.5 - 4 hours.

As you are representing the school, please make sure that you are on your best behaviour and attire.
Like all visit to galleries and museums, please do not touch or damage any artefacts you see or you will be taken to task and very likely you have to compensate for any damages you caused.
Do pay attention to the instructors and you will get to create very interesting Artwork.
Any misbehaviour will not be tolerated and you will be barred from any future learning journey
Once you have completed your task, please take a photo of the work BEFORE doing your Post Learning Journey reflection. QR code

Programme Outline:

9:00am: Arrival

9:15am: Welcome and overview of programme outline

9:20am – 9:30am: Let’s look at Ceramic Sculptures: Themes and forms

9:30am – 9:35am: Ideation Process and How to plan your forms (Working out the shapes, a plan for stable construction)

9:35am – 9:50am: Demonstration – clay sculpture creation process (Making shapes/forms, joining technique, and practical tips)

9:50am – 11:10am: Hands-on Activity: Creating the form

11:10am – 11:20am: Demo – using underglazes (Preparing and applying; Cleaning up)

11:20am – 11:40pm: Hands-on Glazing

11:40pm – 12:00pm: Photo Taking, Recap and Conclusion

12:00pm: Return back to school
